TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 8TH - LONDON

THIS IS THE ROUTE WE WILL BE TAKING ON OUR TOUR,
Our first hotel breakfast. I was very restrained…but Henry found the pastry and bread hard to resist! Must admit it did look great.
A morning on bus tour was the “unofficial” beginning of our tour today. The local guide was very knowledgeable about London and we drove into the centre of London.  The city was a hive of activity and the traffic totally jammed. Taxis and buses by the score! Chaos!

It was difficult to take photos when in the bus, so there are not so many today.

We had a guided tour of St Paul’s (no photographs allowed inside).  We went downstairs into the crypt, all very interesting. Must admit though that after a while the guide's commentary just sounded like blah…blah……blah…must be my hearing!

As many of the people who live and work in London do not have cars the buses and tube are used(and busy) 24/7

Last stop was a side street where we witnessed the band and guards at the “Changing of the Guard”. Loved it as the band were playing “It’s a long way to Tipperary “

Our tour returned at 12 and we celebrated Henry’s birthday with a pastry and coffee. The coffee here is great, much better than anything we had in France! A quick visit to a Marks and Spencers opposite the hotel and then back to the hotel for the afternoon.

.........COULDN'T RESIST PHOTOGRAPHING THIS!
Excited to be going to the West End for dinner and to see The Book of Mormon we caught the ever efficient tube. Peak hour and there was barely two minutes between trains, each full of commuters. Lots of people stand but its not really a problem as the trains are fast and  journey mostly only a few stops. The theatre district was abuzz with people, can't believe so many people out and about on a Tuesday night. Diner and the show were both memorable...a great way to spend your birthday Henry assured me!
