COLOMBA HOTEL INVERNESS

The usual 8 a.m. start..... getting into a good morning routine now. Leaving Glasgow saw the city – lots of older buildings and mainly apartment living.
One hour to our stop on the banks of Lock Lomond. “Ben” Lomond concealed in mist but the loch looked beautiful in the morning light. The song kept going around in my mind.

The road around the loch is narrow pretty forests and undergrowth, very green and damp.

Throughout the day we had every season ….sun, wind, cold, rainbows, pelting and scuddy rain… mists coming and gathering over the mountains changing almost every 10 minutes!

All the little streams and waterfalls were flowing fast today.

Next through miles of Scottish Moors heather just about finished for the season but striking scenery. Then a photo stop and a Scottish piper (busker) there….freezing wind! Scenery breathtaking all the way to our quick coffee stop at Fort William only brief because we had to make the ferry to the Isle of Skye.We lined up for the ferry cold and windy. Lots of rainbows today…but no pots of gold yet…..

On the Isle of Skye we visited the garden and ruins and museum of the Clan Donald. The gardens are superb and we loved our walk (although umbrellas a necessity).

We left Skye via 2 bridges and onto the mainland stopping to photograph a castle on the way. The Scottish Highlands are truly beautiful, again another set of photos that don’t do justice to our day!

Arrived in Inverness.. a welcome dinner and warm room.
