Because it
was Sunday we didn’t know what to expect with the Metro trains, but we realise
now that so many people catch rail transport the trains on every line seem to
run about every 5 minutes!
Warning.......with trains coming every 5 minutes who would risk it?
Henry kept this map from our trip in 2003...proving hoarding does pay???????
We went all
the way to look at Lafayette ( the famous French department store)…… and it is
closed on Sunday!! On my part regret…and was that joy on the face
of Henry’s credit card?
A closed Lafayette
With that
plan shattered we wandered down to the “Opera”, like all the buildings here
quite magnificent. I suggested a tour going through but it was 7Euro each …… a
Youtube video is cheaper and much easier on the legs!
Opulence abounds at the Opera!
Meandering
on and slightly lost we found a Maccas…free wi fi and coffee and cake at a
reasonable price. Henry spoke to the kids for Father’s day which was nice.
LOL!!!!!
Only a few
more steps (not sure in which direction) and we found a beautiful church. Again
so impressive. You can hardly imagine how difficult many Paris buildings were
to build as ceilings are magnificent and just so high.
Sacra Coeur from a distance . Church we visited at front. Notre Dame de Lorette
Re
orientating ourselves (sort of) we caught the metro heading towards the Eiffel tower.
How cute is this?
Food photos of the day!
Now this was
a lovely surprise a street full of little market stalls selling every form of
antique, retro stuff and second hand things you could imagine!
Browses bookshops...even if books are in French!!!
To finish the day we walked through beautiful streets and parks to the tower. People were out really enjoying the lovely sunny Sunday. Locals mixed with tourists and there was a friendly and happy vibe around
A patch of dirt and a soccer ball.....a beautiful game.
Dancing to Michael Jackson. a big audience!
Silly!
Even sillier
This group of riders had ridden from London for charity over three days (of course catching the ferry over from Dover)
Hard to resist this offer for some people
Our studio is not far from the tower so we crossed one of the many bridges over the Seine…. And believe me that last kilometre home was hard walking for a very tired pair of Aussies!
The Seine is alive with people this afternoon.
What every woman wears to walk to the tower.!
Dinner in an Italian restaurant 5 minutes walk from the studio....and sadly our time in Paris is very nearly over!
