RADISON BLU SLIGO
Today we
left Limerick early and again fine weather.
Unfortunately one of our group had left their passports at the hotel but
luckily realised it at almost at once so we only lost about 15 minutes
returning to the hotel.
Our first
stop was the Cliffs of Moher. This was one of the places Henry was looking
forward to seeing and he wasn’t disappointed! This area is remote but has a
great Visitors' centre which is nestled under a hill very unobtrusively.

Henry had
been reading in today’s paper that well over a million tourists have visited
Ireland this year and that had been an increase from the previous year of over
200,000.
Tourist
buses finish for the most part at the end of September. There is still some
tourism but many things close. The tourist industry keeps a lot of the people
employed.
We then
drove through the limestone plateau of The Burren, a rocky and relatively
barren and windswept area. Everywhere are straight, long rock fences and some
grazing of sheep and cattle. The amount of hard work that must have gone to the
building of the fences is mind boggling!

Galway was
our lunch stop and we enjoyed a chat with some locals in a café.
The Radisson in Sligo was our stop for the night. We were there early enough to have a lovely swim before dinner at the hotel.
