FRIDAY 28TH - 29TH AUGUST - SYDNEY TO NICE

A HUGE DAY/S 35 HOURS DOOR TO DOOR!!

GREENARE TO KULA LUMPUR: (10HOURS)
Thanks to Bob for a smooth ride to the airport. We were very excited….and exhausted before we even began!

During the flight half a glass of coke tipped all over my behind (the tipper of the coke will remain nameless of course), got up to go the loo and tripped on my bag strap and did a very graceful dive flat on my front down the aisle, and to top it off when I returned to my seat a full can of coke dropped on my foot. Well at least we didn’t land IN the sea!
We had a three hour wait at KL where we were able to sit with our feet up thankfully. Even in the terminal it is very humid.

We didn’t sleep on the first leg but I think we both will next leg!

KUALA LUMPUR TO LONDON: (13 HOURS)
This part of the trip was tough! Lights were out for a good part of the flight and we got a reasonable amount of “sleep”. Lots of young children on the flight though and it was very hard for them to settle as you can imagine! I couldn’t complain about Malaysian airlines though as food, service and legroom all good and on time!
On a cattle bus between terminals in London...Looking worse the wear for our 13 hours!
LONDON TO NICE: (2 HOURS)
With limited time at London airport (2 hours) we went by shuttle bus from one terminal to another which took 10-15 minutes. Then it seemed like walking and escalating forever to get to the plane to Nice. Noisy ride as I sat near a group of girls on a hen’s weekend away! Arrival at airport ….waiting …waiting for luggage…Ooops! …no luggage. Panic (but only for a moment as my truly brilliant schoolgirl French kicked in …and I found someone who spoke English!) Henry filled out lots of forms……… thoughts of trying to find clothes in Nice that weren’t size 8…… and then we were told if we waited 20 minutes our bags were on the next flight ….. And they were….. Big sighs of relief all round!
NICE:
On first impressions lots of wealthy botoxed ladies here….lips you could trip over! Sunny, busy, gold-coasty (with really old buildings). Our taxi driver thought he was on the Monaco circuit…..  I nicknamed him thundercloud (so……friendly ... NOT!)…..but we arrived (albeit very quickly) to our apartment, where we had to wait in the lobby for a couple of hours for our host to arrive.
Nice at last.....how blue is that sea?
I negotiated the area and found a supermarket as I knew we’d be too tired to go out. Henry had a quick swim, I showered and we sure slept (horizontal at last)…..  A midnight feast called and of course we answered!
