HILTON NEWPORT
One of the reasons Henry was so keen on this particular tour was that it went to Stonehenge and Bath. Both on his bucket list!Again we drove along good but narrow roads. It is hard to get photos of the beautiful fields because the hedgerows along either side which often almost form a canopy.

Our tour guide is well organised, informative and entertaining with lots of stories/historical facts and trivia. Travellers are all well behaved and friendly and so far all on time! Probably more importantly the bus driver is great (and certainly very patient).
Our first brief stop was Glastonbury – a really “cute hippie-style” town. Obscure shops and beautiful coloured hanging baskets everywhere (all flowers are very ordinary – petunias, geraniums and begonias).| There was something on the afternoon in the town and this guy was announcing it...cute! |
| NOW THIS WINDOW LOOKS INTERESTING..OR JUST PLAIN WEIRD?? |
| A WEIRD AND WONDERFUL COLLECTION OF CLOTHING HERE!! |
Henry couldn’t come here without a “Chelsea Bun” stop.
We arrived in Bath - pretty place but absolutely crawling with tourists.
Henry was quite taken be the whole scene and really savoured wandering through the Roman Baths. The tour was a self-conducted one but the site is well set up to accommodate the herds of people. I went through much more quickly…and waited outside. Very hard to get photos without someone bombing yours!
| ALL THE SURFACES ARE VERY ROUGH AND VERY WORN, SO MANY TOURISTS WEAR HIGH HEELS......THEY HARDLY LOOK COMFORTABLE ON THESE SURFACES ...LOL! |
The day went from wet to dry to sunny to dull to sunny….not too cold though but definitely 4 seasons in a day! We ate at a small cafĂ© and believe me by 1.15 the coffee hardly hit the sides!
We are averaging 5-8 kms a day walking, so walking off those scones and Chelsea buns (I hope).
Cardiff was our destination for dinner tonight. Our bus drove us around the city and then we walked through, found a pub and ate “good pub food”. An ice cream from McDonalds and then the bus back to the hotel in Newport. Another great day.
